Following the conduct of 1st surveillance audit on 05 August 2016 by AJA Registrars at DOST-X regional office here in Cagayan de Oro City, the provincial S&T centers in Camiguin and Lanao del Norte, DOST-X is now on its 8th year as an ISO 9001:2008 certified office. DOST-X hurdled the audit with zero nonconformity and five observations. The Department of Science and Technology – Region-X commits to continuously conform with the international standards for Quality Management Systems (QMS) in order to deliver and provide quality, relevant and timely Science & Technology services to the local and national customers.
The agency is proud to announce that it continuously operates with a quality management system which has been assessed as conforming to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 and was re-certified after it has passed the 1st Surveillance Audit with flying colors. The audit aims to validate conformity of the DOST-X to the requirements set by ISO through the effective implementation of the QMS. The Audit Team was led by the Ms. Ingrid Manglapus together with Mr. Allan Carandang and Mr. Melvin Grueso.
The agency’s scope of audit includes Provision of Science and Technology Transfer Services; Science and Technology Information Dissemination; and Science and Technology Scholarships. The audit was conducted in three different sites. The DOST-X Regional Office was identified as Site 1, where the Top Management and QMR; HR and Administration; Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) for Industry and Firms & other Entities; Document Controller and Internal Audit were evaluated and assessed. On the other hand, the Provincial S&T Center (PSTC), Misamis Occidental, which is located in Oroquieta City was identified as Site 2 and Provincial S&T Center, Camiguin which is located in the town of Mambajao was also identified as Site 3. Sites 2 and 3 were evaluated and assessed on the areas of service realization of the PSTCs, warehouse and inventory, SETUP and maintenance and calibration.
With DOST-X’s commitment to ISO standards, the auditors found zero non-conformity during the audit, with positive notes on DOST-X’s best practices in the implementation of the standards. The agency is set to undergo another surveillance audit after one year.
