DOST Bukidnon supports the 38th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week through a Practical Skills Training on Cakes, Pastries and Meat Processing for the PWD members. This year’s theme is “Karapatan ng Maykapansanan, Isakatupan…Now Na!

It is hoped that with the new knowledge and skills on food processing, the group will be able to establish livelihood activities and will further have an enterprise specifically on pasalubong products. The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malaybalay City through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) and DOST will continue to support the group and the development of enterprise. Aside from project development, product packaging, labelling and marketing will be included in the assistance.

The two-day activity was facilitated by the Provincial S&T Center Bukidnon staff in close collaboration with CSWD, Malaybalay City. There were two (2) local trainers namely Ms. Marie Fe Pedrono, Owner of Marie Fe’s Pasalubong and Mr. & Mrs. Elizier Magdales, owner of Eli’s Meat Processing. They are the beneficiaries of the DOST Small Enterprise Techonology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

There were 50 participants including the CSWD staff present during the conduct of the said activity from the six (6) target Barangays in the City. There barangays are Casisang, Can-ayan, Apo Macote, Sinanglanan, Managok, and Bangcud, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

The participants were able to produced Cakes, Chantilly bars & Butter Scotch bar, Longganisa & Chorizo. After the training, the officers together with DOST & CSWD discussed on the plans for the implementation of the livelihood project.
