With the paper entitled RAIN-INDUCED LANDSLIDE MODELING OF CARMEN HILL, CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, the group of authors from Xavier University Engineering Resource Center of the Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan proudly walked on the stage as they were announced winner for the Mindanao Regional Scientific Meeting - Scientific Poster Session.
Nine (9) poster submissions were exhibited and were evaluated by the board of judges during the Mindanao RSM starting from the 12th until the 13th of March 2018. The winning poster's authors, namely the following: Aeron Jay A. Sy Cezar, Dan Runielle S. Cabahug, Jason B. Co, Nikko James C. Veronilla, Ray-An Vince D. Yray, Gerardo P. Apor and Dexter S. Lo, diligently bannered the objective of their research, which is "to develop high resolution slope stability maps against rain-induced landslides in Carmen Hill".
Cash prize was given to the winners of the Mindanao RSM Scientific Poster Contest, while non-winners got the opportunity to be awarded with Certificates of Appreciation on stage.
The Mindanao Regional Scientific Meeting is the first leg of the 2018 nationwide conduct of Regional Scientific Meetings; 2nd and 3rd RSMs will be done for Luzon and Visayas in the same year. One of the objectives of the Mindanao RSM is to have an insightful review of the Philippine performances and achievements of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), and initiatives in relation to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities and (15) Life on Land. This year's Mindanao RSM was held on March 12-13, 2018 at the Mallberry Suites Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
