With over 15 regional offices located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, DOST-X ranks second in the DOST-SEI Junior Level Science Scholarship in terms of percent (%) increase in the passing rate.

Region X's DOST-SEI JLSS scholarship passers numbered to 392 in the last year's round of scholarship examinations. A significant increase that enabled DOST-X to proudly cap second place next to DOST-NCR.

Following the DOST-SEI JLSS scholarship was the DOST-SEI Undergraduate scholarship examinations. The latter accumulated passers from the very first batch of students that had undergone the K-12 program. With 16.59% passing rate from 2,525 takers, the examination results boosted up to 69.11% passing rate compared to 2015's 218 passers out of 2,222. Last year's examination garnered a total of 424 undergraduate scholars for the academic year 2018. All 392 and 419 scholars will be receiving an allowance of Php 7,000.00 every month starting A. Y. 2018-2019.

DOST-SEI or the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute offers both Junior Level Science Scholarships and Undergraduate Scholarships to incoming third-year college students and incoming first-year college students, respectively. DOST-SEI scholarships are DOST's initiatives to encourage academic stakeholders to take on science courses and contribute to the scientific and technological innovations in the country.

With this remarkable increase in the number of scholarship passers, Region X is more than enthusiastic to promote science education in the region. This is a positive indication that science and technology will always be on trails in the nation's endeavor to a more innovative Philippines. (Julie Anne H. Baculio, DOST-X)
