DOH-TRC-CDO staff inside the Specimen Collection Booth

Cagayan de Oro City - The Department of Science and Technology Region 10 (DOST-10) donated one (1) unit of a Specimen Collection Booth (SCB) to the Department of Health Treatment and Rehabilitation Center of Cagayan de Oro City (DOH-TRC-CDO) on February 10, 2021.

The Specimen Collection Booth is one of the agency’s responses to different innovation requests against COVID-19. The SCB will give added protection and convenience to healthcare workers in collecting samples from patients.

DOST, through the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERRD) and DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), engaged the Futuristic Aviation and Maritime Enterprise, Inc. (FAME) in the fabrication of the booths. The SCB's FAME-designed structure included a thermal scanner and a pressure sensor.

“Our staff were pleasantly surprised at the safety and comfort it affords them, which enables them to render service efficiently while keeping themselves well-protected at all times. Thus we are very appreciative for the assistance of your office in the provision of the booth and for remembering this facility in the list of recipients”, said Dr. Benson C. Go, Chief of Hospital II of the DOH-TRC-CDO.

The donated SCB was utilized by the DOH-TRC-CDO staff also on February 10 for their patients' initial screening before admission to the health facility. (Donald John Baul, DOST-X)
