The Provincial Local Government Unit of Camiguin received science and technology support through a check amounting to Php 480,000 from the Department of Science and Technology-Camiguin on June 3, 2021. This COVID-19 project is entitled: Support to Clean Camiguin COVID-19 QR Code System and its Operation Center through the adoption of S-PaSS and other Covid-related Systems.

The fund is for the acquisition of 50 mobile phones for scanning CleanCamiguinQR codes and two computer units as software servers.

CleanCamiguinQR is the official COVID-19 contact tracing software of the province. It can track an infected person's close contact up to the third level.

Further, CleanCamiguinQR also serves as software for pre-registration of vaccination. It has the mechanism to update pre-registered residents on their schedule and location of vaccination via SMS.

S-PaSS, on the other hand, is a travel management system developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VI primarily intended to make traveling of Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs), Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs), Emergency Travelers (ETs), and other travelers during this pandemic Safe, Swift, and Smart.

The S-PaSS makes traveling easy by giving updated information on a municipality's travel requirements, such as securing QR codes, barangay residency certification, proof of COVID-19 RT-PCR testing, travel order, etc.

The mobile phones and computer units will incorporate both the CleanCamiguinQR and the S-PaSS. The phones will be installed in all tourist spots within the province.

Provincial Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo personally expressed his gratitude to DOST-Camiguin and emphasized that Science and Technology initiatives still reached the province even amidst the pandemic. (Nice Nerjay Delada, DOST-Camiguin)
