Participants are trained on how to make pork longanisa and pork lumpia while applying food safety and good manufacturing practices

To enhance the skills and capacity of hog raisers in Catarman, the Department of Science and Technology-Camiguin provided a series of food safety and meat processing skills training to 25 participants on March 30-31, 2022, at the Municipal Agriculture Site, Compol, Catarman, Camiguin.

The hog raisers learned how to make hygienic and quality pork longanisa and pork lumpia by applying good manufacturing practices, basic food hygiene principles, and food safety hazard awareness.

The two-day face-to-face training aims to produce quality processed meat products and establish a meat processing center in the municipality.

Ms. Alma G. Democer of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) also gave lectures on meat preservations aside from conducting the actual training on making processed meats.

DOST-10 also elaborated on the mandatory requirements for packaging and labeling.
