Coffee producers in Bukidnon used to struggle reaching buyers. Now, the DOST-assisted enterprise Kape Maramag is their globally competitive ally for smooth-flowing income.

03 November 2017 – Cagayan de Oro – Kape Maramag is all about big earnings and high scores these days. Not only is it making Php 40,000 to 60,000 a month, it also won in the internationally judged Kape Pilipino (KP) Green Coffee Quality Competition last March, scoring a whopping 83.75 out of a hundred.

But before the numbers came rolling in, the coffee farmers in Maramag, Bukidnon were struggling for years in selling their produce. What sparked their inspiring progress was an initiative to organize, supported by agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

On November 6, 2017, a Ceremonial Check Turn-Over and Program Orientation was conducted at the Alubijid Municipal Hall during their Monday convocation.

The check turnover is in line with the approved Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program assistance, via a project entitled “Enhancement of Community Health, Nutrition, Education and Upgrading of Food Processing Facility” in the amount of Php 665,440.00.

21 September 2017 – Cagayan de Oro – Enthusiastic cheers and applause rose from the audience today at the Limketkai Atrium as the winners of DOST Region X’s Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit (RICE) were announced.


The winning inventions have been crowd-favorites throughout the three-day RICE showcase, which ran concurrently with the region’s National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration.


“We have a record-breaking number of inventions this year,” proclaimed DOST-X Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban at the awarding ceremony.
A total of 99 innovative entries from local inventors were pre-selected from numerous submissions, vying for top prizes in four different categories. This was the highest number of entries in the history of RICE in Region X.

Aware of the possible impact of ground shaking, the Department of Science and Technology, Regional Office No.10 (DOST-10) joins the 2017 3 rd Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) called for by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense–10.

Is Northern Mindanao ready for the current industrial revolution, where intelligent machines help humans work? DOST partners with DTI to gear up for it.

11 October 2017 – Cagayan de Oro – The world has moved beyond computers and automation. Today, it is shifting towards cyber-physical systems where machines are capable of intelligently working with humans and with each other.


This is the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0, and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to usher Filipinos along the transition.


In Region 10, this transition kicked off today at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel, where DOST-X and DTI-10 held the workshop “Gearing Up the Regions for Industry 4.0.” Participants from the government, academe, and industries in Region 10 and CARAGA converged to identify their needs and possible solutions in shifting with the current industrial revolution.
