The Department of Science and Technology in Region 10 is inviting inventors and researchers to join this year’s Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE). Prizes are at stake and winners will represent the region in the National Invention Contest and Exhibits.
For region 10, RICE will be held on August 21-23 at the Event Center, 2nd Level, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City.

On July 10, 2015 at Deluxe Hotel, Cogon, Cagayan de Oro City, an orientation and training was conducted for the LGUs specifically the Muncipal Mayor, Municipal Health Officers (MHO) and the Information and Technology (IT) staff of the receipient-municipalities of the eHATID LGU program. The eHATID LGU project (eHealth TABLET for Informed Decision Making of LGUs) is one of the eHealth and Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) projects of Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with Ateneo De Manila University.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is to conduct the nationwide Junior Level Science Scholarship examination on Sunday, July 12.
Examinees are regular third year college students who are taking up science, mathematics and engineering courses.
In Northern Mindanao, there are about 300 examinees. Those from Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental provinces

“DOST continues to install the early warning systems. In Region 10, we have added 20 more instruments to widen the early warning systems especially with the impending flood and typhoon threats.”
This is what DOST-10 regional director Alfonso Alamban reported during the July 1 “Talakayan sa PIA.”
He shared that under the DOST Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards) is another component, the Deployment of Early Warning Systems (DEWS) to flood-prone areas in the Philippines. Director Alamban said that 13 additional EWS sites have already been validated/evaluated which covers the provinces of Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. Along with this is the maintenance of 63 existing EWS stations.

In time for the 2nd Monday Convocation Program and Opening of the 17th Charter Day Celebration of Malaybalay City, on March 9, 2015, the Department of Science and Technology through the Provincial S&T Center (PSTC)-Bukidnon turned over the 22 units of STARBOOKS to the City Government of Malaybalay through Hon. Ignacio W. Zubiri, the City Mayor. Hon. Zubiri likewise turned over the said units to the 19 High Schools in Malaybalay City through the Schools Division Superintendent, Edilberto L. Oplenaria by signing the Acknowledgement of Receipts (ARE).
